Dayara Bugyal Trek
Dayara Bugya Located in District Uttarkashi of Uttrakhand, Dayara Bugyal stands at an elevation of above 10,000 ft/3048 m. This trek in the Garhwal Himalayas has become one of the most popular trekking routes with thick forests that open to a huge lush green meadow.
The trekking for Dayara Bugyal starts from the village of Barsu. Trekkers can enjoy beautiful views of a stream flowing where they can even halt and capture the picturesque sight. Moving ahead, the trekking trail to Dayara Bugyal further takes to the lush forest of maple and oak trees. One won’t find any animals there except a happy-go-lucky mountain dog which might accompany you throughout the trek. There are great camping opportunities along Barnala Tal. As you ascend more, the forest starts to clear out and all you are left with is a wide, sprawling, undulating, and lush meadow of Dayara Bugyal.
The term “Bugyal” in the local dialect means high altitude pasture land. Dayara Bugyal is considered to be one of the most beautiful and breathtaking treks in Uttarakhand, because of the highland meadows. In terms of difficulty level, Dayara Bugyal is an easy trek, which means it is perfect for
Day 1- Dehradun to Raithal
Raithal, is a pleasant village famous as base camp of Dayara Bugyal trek. It is around 38 km away from Uttarkashi. The village is flourished with lush greenery. Bhagirathi River flows throughout the way to the village. The route to Raithal is like a pathway between the mountains. You will get first glimpse of Gangotri range, Shrikanth peak from Moryana top. Here you will halt for a small break if you wish to capture the splendid peaks.
As you approach closer to Raithal the views of mountain peaks get bigger, Shrikanth peak is one of the prominent peaks from here. You
will spend the night in guest house or get authentic home stay.
Day 2- Raithal to Gui
Start early morning with energized spirit to embark on the actual trek. The trail on this is a walk through the jungle. It is filled with silver, gold oak trees. The route to campsite is well marked and the campsite at Gui always remains in line of sight. The trail is ascending gradually hence it will take around 4-5 hours to reach to the next resting point.
The camping site is unique in a way that is surrounded by alpine trees unlike mountains. You will spot quaint village huts near the campsite. The view from Gui is almost same as from Raithal, with clear views of Gangotri range and Shrikanth peak. Under the beautiful night sky you can relax and re-energize yourself.
Day 3- Gui to Dayara Bugyal
Today is smaller day, just like hiking in mountains. The trail rises slowly as the forest clears and sights of hidden neighbor peak becomes visible. Post winter, until mid-April the snow does not melt. You might get some snow traces on the path.
Dayara Bugyal campsite unlike the previous day is a open site. Camps will be placed exactly opposite, in front of the mountains. Sneak out of the tent and big peaks will be standing in front of you. Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Srikhanth Mahadev, Draupadi ka Danda, and its neighbor peaks are some of these peaks. Bandarpoonch is highly associated with Dayara Bugyal trek, but you will also encounter many other splendid peaks. Some remains of snow around the tents form a perfect camping site picture.
After lunch or evening tea you can stroll around and explore the area.
Day 4 – Dayara Bugyal to Dayara top and back
Summit day finally arrived. Today you will go to the highest point and return back to the campsite. With first few steps under forest, the trail gradually opens up, leading to vast meadows. Hereafter, you will find yourself trudging on the green meadows blossomed with colorful flowers.
Walking on such beautiful terrain with stunning views of Bandarpoonch and other peaks, you will fail to notice that you have finally reached closer to the top. You might also spot a sparsely filled water stream. The final climb is steep but it is worth the physical strain, because you will end up standing in front of the Dodital range. Bandarpoonch seems a touching distance away. The trail then takes you to the Gidara pass. Pass distinguishes ways to Pichkiya and Gidara Bugyal.
Give yourself sometime to inculcate the serenity of the landscape and take back your steps to return to the campsite. This day might seem hectic, as we try to reach campsite till the lunch time.
Day 5 – Dayara Bugyal to Barsu to Dehradun
The small journey in the mountains comes to end today. Wake up early and get all packed up to store the trek memories in permanent storage.
The trail as you might have guessed is easy descent till Barsu. Before that you will spot an attractive lake near Barnala. Old fashioned huts will be surrounding the lake. A peaceful temple of Kala Nath lies next to the lake. Curious photographers will be happy to capture the frame of temple besides the lake, lying between the mountains. You will be astonished to see how devoted people here are even in sparsely populated region. Amongst adventurers Barnala is also famous for skiing.
Barsu is 5 km away from Barnala. Throughout the trail you can relive the past fond moments by just looking behind. It seems as if the mountain peaks are calling you back. Barsu is a lively village where children and villagers will be seen meandering around.
Barsu to Dehradun is a 7 hours drive. You will reach station in the evening to catch your train that will take you back to your sweet home. Sweet home where you will only cherish the Dayara-Bugyal trek moments.

Note : Normally AH expect to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule.
Charges of offloading backpack:-
INR 1500/- if you make an online payment, 10 days in advance
INR 1800/- if you inform us after reaching Sankri
The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kgs. Backpack should have waterproof cover. Suitcases/strolleys/ bags will not be allowed.
CANCELLATION, POLICY
It is wise to make your booking at least two months in advance. In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, andcancellation charges would be as follows
Up to 30 Days: – 90% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refund.
Between 21 – 30 Days: – 50% of Trek/Adventure/Tour/Travel/Hotel program cost will be refund.

SHORT ITINERARY
Day 1- Dehradun to Raithal
- Altitude:7,400 ft
- Stay in Guest house/homestay
- Drive 180km (6-7 hours)
- Main market at Uttarkashi, another market at Bhatwari
- Network is available (Airtel, Idea, BSNL)
- View of Gangotrirange from Moryana top
- Front view of Shrikanth peak and massif view Gangotri range from Raithal
- Pick up time 06:00 am at the parking of Dehradun railway station

Day 2- Raithal to Gui
- Altitude: 7,400 to 9,500 ft
- Stay on meadows in tents
- Distance is 3.5km will take 4-5 hours
- Easy trail. Gradual ascend throughout
- No water sources, carry 2 liters of water bottles
- Same view as Raithal, village huts around, campsite surrounded by forests of silver, gold oak trees, bloomed with rhododendrons.
Day 3- Gui to Dayara Bugyal
- Altitude: : 9,500 ft to 11,100 ft
- Stay in tents
- Distance is 3.5km will take 4-5 hours
- Easy trail. Gradual ascend throughout
- No water sources, carry 2 liters of water bottles
- Views of Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag and neighbor peaks
Day 4 – Dayara Bugyal to Dayara top and back
- Altitude: 11,100 ft to 12,057 ft
- Stay in tents
- Time taken: 5-6 hours
- Easy to Moderate. Trudging through meadows having gradual ascend until final steep ascent
- Carry enough water, only one water source near the top
- Massive views of many peaks and Dodital range views from top
Day 5- DayaraBugyal to Barsu
- Altitude: 11,100 ft to 7,400 ft
- Time taken: 3-4 hours for trek

- Time taken: 6-7 hoursdrive to Dehradun
- Leave Barsu by 6:30 am
